Fletcher is the bestselling author of biographies on Keith Moon, the Smiths, and R.E.M. among others, plus a memoir, novel, and history of the New York City music scene. Born in northern England, and raised in South London, where he started a music magazine at age thirteen, he immigrated to New York City in the late 1980s. He lives near Woodstock in the Catskill Mountains of New York. His current book is “In the Midnight Hour: The Life & Soul of Wilson Pickett.”
