Sones has written six award winning verse novels for teens, and one bestselling novel for grownups. Her books have received many honors, including a Christopher Award and a Los Angeles Times Book Prize nomination. Her novel, "What My Mother Doesn't Know,” landed Sonya a spot on the ALA's list of the most frequently banned authors of the 21st Century. "Saving Red,” her most recent book, is set in Santa Monica.
