McGuire lives and works in the Pacific Northwest, writing books both under her own name and the name Mira Grant. A recipient of the 2017 Alex Award, she has been described as "incredibly prolific" and "most likely to write a trilogy by mistake." She enjoys horror movies and corn fields, and hopes to someday write the X-Men for Marvel Comics. Her latest book is “Dusk or Dark or Dawn or Day.”
