Jouet teaches at Stanford Law School. His writing on the intriguing evolution of American politics, government, and
culture has been featured in numerous publications, including Mother Jones, Slate, The New Republic, and San Francisco Chronicle. Raised in Paris by a French mother and Kenyan father, Jouet then lived in the Bible Belt, Manhattan, and beyond. His book, “Exceptional America: What Divides Americans From the World and From Each Other” (University of California Press), explores the relationship between American exceptionalism and the intense polarization of modern American society that precipitated Donald Trump’s election.
