Lucas is the Executive Director of the National Book Foundation, which is best-known as the presenter of the National Book Awards. Before joining the Foundation, she served as the Publisher of Guernica Magazine, Tribeca Film Institute's Director of Education, and has consulted for the Sundance Institute, San Francisco Film Society, and the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Lucas also serves on the literary council of the Brooklyn Book Festival.
