Valcourt is pursuing a Ph.D. in systems biology at Harvard University, where he is a recipient of a Hertz Foundation Graduate Fellowship. He was formerly a researcher at D. E. Shaw Research in New York City, where he used supercomputer simulations to study pharmaceutical drugs. He is the author of "Systematic: How Systems Biology Is Transforming Modern Medicine.” James lives in Somerville, Massachusetts.
