Dutton owned and operated the iconic Dutton’s Brentwood Bookstore for more than two decades before it closed in 2008. Thousands of authors celebrated their works in Duttons’ central courtyard from Jane Smiley, Robert Stone and T.C. Boyle to Junot Diaz, Chang Rae Lee and Lisa See. He currently teaches music theory and humanities at The Colburn School in Los Angeles.
